Instant Confidence

September 10, 2015

Whenever I ask a group of golfers which aspect of their game they would like to improve the most, the majority mention a mental/emotional skill.  The most common response is a desire to increase their confidence.

Your confidence levels change according to how you are performing, which is quite normal.  The more you have a sense of being in control of your confidence, rather than your confidence levels being purely a response to the way you are playing, the more likely you are to experience a higher base level of confidence.

Ways you can influence the way you feel include how you stand, breathe, think and move.  Social psychologist Amy Cuddy has presented a TED talk on power posing and how it positively influences not only how a person feels about themselves, but also how they are perceived by others.  It is one of the most watched talks on TED.

The video below shows how you can use some of those ideas to positively influence your confidence levels on the golf course.
